The chance for a strong top ten finish for Ricky Mitchell at last weekends 2010 Queensland Sprintcar Championship was taken away at the mid race point after a clash of wheels damaged the left front wheel on the Eagle Ignition Leads #19 Cheetah. After qualifying for the 35 lap final after a fourth placed result in the 20 B-main Ricky forced his way inside the top 10 with a storming run on the top of the track but the clash peeled the tyre from the damaged rim forcing Ricky to the infield.

Last Saturday night Ricky Mitchell fought back from a first heat crash to finish inside the top ten in the latest round of the Queensland Speedway Spares Series at the Brisbane International Speedway. After being out of the race car for close to a month, and the fact he dropped a heat along the way, a ninth placed finish against the field of 26 cars was an encouraging result as the Penrite Oils / Eagle Ignition Leads supported team prepares for three big nights of racing in the next two weeks.

Last Saturday night Ricky Mitchell returned to action at the latest round of the QSSS at the Brisbane International Speedway but his latest event was cut short after just one heat race after rain drenched the venue following the completion of heat two. Luckily Ricky was able to get his first heat event completed prior to the rain settling in but his end result didn’t reflect the car speed that the #19 Penrite Oils Cheetah possessed.

Queenslander Ricky Mitchell returned to the driver’s seat of his #19 Eagle Ignition Leads Cheetah for the first time in seven months recently as he contested the USA Sprintcars show mid week along with Round 9 of World Series Sprintcars at his home track in Brisbane. With one of the hottest fields ever seen in Brisbane, which included six Americans and four drivers who have held the Australian Championship crown, it was always going to a tough ask and despite the fact that Ricky was “a little rusty” the team was quietly pleased with the overall outcome.
